Forth post of the series about my a life-style change.
The problem is identified — it is manly the time spend procrastinating and the time spend online or in front of my MacBooks screen. But how can that be changed? I have some different approaches to get this done.
Projects
Smaller Projects: One thing I do as a passion is to start projects. Many of which need way to much time and do not prove to be as great ideas in the end. One thing I think can be done is to focus the project passion on projects which are finishable in a few weeks and do not need 24/7 attention!
Not to many projects at a time: One more thing about my project passion is that I like to start different projects at the same time. Mostly the reason is because I have a new ideas for a project while working on an other one — so it is kinda the same problem. If a project is finished fast, I can start a new project fast.
Finishing Projects: One more thing about the project passion is that a long term project does not end and it seems like a never ending story. So finish the projects. Get them done and of your list.
Focus on Projects which are worth it: The best about this one is that the amount of projects decreases rapidly if you just think about the worth of a project. Many times it is a great idea but if you think about it for a bit longer you come to the conclusion that you either can not do it because you do not have the abilities or you find out that someone else already did the very same thing.
School Life
It should be the most important right now to finish school. And that is also the main reason why I keep thinking about the topic of the life-style-change. I need to study and the how is the question. Focus on school projects rather than on other-projects. If I still want to do a project, I should just focus on school-related projects
Conclusion
I still need to get on focus. I still need to stop much procrastination — right now my main procrastination is to research stuff to buy someday, which feels like making me happy but in the end I end up not buying anything so the research is not worth it.
These are some points were I would like to change something for the better and to focus my time on. The next post will be what I changed till now (since september 2009).
I wish you all a happy Christmas Day. I hope you all enjoy it and have some nice hours with friends and family.
And hopefully a happy slowing down for some days. Getting your head out of the work and relax a little. At least I try to do this. I try to think about stuff I should have thought about some month back — mostly regarding my time management and my happiness — which may be readable in the next Life-Style-Change Post!
Have a nice time everyone.
June the 17th 2009, this blog was started for the first time. By than I was not very much into blogging. I just noticed all the stuff for real and met some interesting people online — plus their blogs. I started to read many and started to follow them via RSS (which I had not known until august 2008).
December 23rd 2008, I relaunched the blog with a better design and clear thoughts for the future. Shortly after, I started to get on a schedule for my blog-posts — 2 per week, one on Tuesday and one on Friday. With just a few times at which I failed to post in time.
Tomorrow — December 23rd 2009 — ONE year later and — with this one — 110 posts, I celebrate an anniversary. And I think I will go on to celebrate next year again!
I thank everybody reading this blog and especially, since I never sad anything else, I am happy that I hold up the schedule and that I am still writing. I hope the stuff I write is of some value and that you enjoy reading it and I hope I got better with my writing over the past year.
Have a nice Christmas!
I’ve been using either Droplr or Cloud for the past 3 months and both are great tools. But Droplr comes out ahead in a few ways.
~ Chris Bowler
I will definitely try this one — Droplr — lets see how this thing works, but it already sounds great!
* Update:
I just stopped using Droplr. It looks great and is pretty easy use, but for me it is not of a value to run in the backround all the time. I can just use my DropBox public folder for most of the quick file sharing I need to do. Still the stats feature is awesome!

Many may know Tim Ferriss, the Author of ‘The 4 Hour Work Week’. Now a guy called Eric Karjaluoto over at ideasonideas wrote some words about him.
I say Tim wanted some free publicity – which he got – alongside some inexpensive ideas for his cover. He’s pretty good at seeming like a misunderstood nice-guy, which perhaps he is, but his actions might lead us to a different conclusion.
~ Eric Karjaluoto
I do not state my opinion here but one thing to mention: Tim Ferriss definitely is a interesting guy and someone who does some interesting stuff. And if he just lives half the way he tells to live, he has an awesome lifestyle!

They screen low budget movies for a few bugs or to watch for free. It is a trial and error but sometimes the movies are really great and have value!

It is Christmas? Right so you get gifts? Yes! The guys over at blacksmithgames.com did a great job in collecting an ‘appvent calender’. Everyday one free App from the AppStore — till the 24th of December!
Go have a look.

Just yesterday my photography portfolio went online at CHRISSP.com. Some quick information about what is going to happen there:
- I am going to publish one photograph every Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 00:00 (GMT + 1:00)
- All pictures which are published there are licensed under the Creative Commons License (by-nc-sa)
Thats the formal part.
The Way I Publish my Photography
I bought my DSLR about 1.8 years ago since than I took quiet a lot photographs. My problem always was that I searched a way to publish them the right way. One possibility would have been my Flickr Account or a SmugMug Account. But Somehow I have a problem with this two services. With Flickr the problem was that I had not found any way to upload photographs scheduled which I definitely need for this Monday / Tuesday / Friday schedule (now I found one way but I still want a extra Portfolio but I am going to upload the pictures also to Flickr (same day / time system as with the Portfolio). With SmugMug the problem is, that it is a little to expensive for me.
In the end I decided to get the Domain CHRISSP.com and publish my Photography Portfolio there with an WordPress installation and a theme — coded and designed by my self — which is specially thought to be a portfolio with just one image per posts and heavy usage of Custom Fields, some PHP to get the EXIF information and the different sizes saved in the Media Library of WordPress.
The scheduled Flickr upload is done over email via LetterMeLater.com which is an email services though which you can send emails at a scheduled date and time to any email address. The photograph as an attachment — one problem: it only lets you attache an attachment less than 2MB in size (that is the reason why the photographs at flickr are a bit less in quality than at my Portfolio).
This is the overview how I do my publishing with my Portfolio. I hope you like my shots and please feel free and comment at flickr / send me an email with any thoughts. If you like to use a photograph without a commercial use you are free to do that but I would like you to send me an email to let me know that, thanks!
All in all go and have a look: CHRISSP.com or Flickr
