Project: 31 Days. 31 Movies.

The beginning of this year was near and I watched out if I could find little projects to get accomplished and to test some things. Since I am currently pretty much into this daily project thing — like my 365 iPhone photograph project — I started one more which I want to tell you about her.

The project I started the first of January 2010 was called: ‘31 Days. 31 Movies.’ and what it was about is watching 31 Movies in the month January. And I did it. I even accomplished it one day early! But I can tell: it was hard. Even for someone like me who really watches many movies it is really hard to do one per day and some days two because I was not able to watch a movie on Sundays for example.

About the Movies

Some are great, some are not. Some are even a bit strange — for example La Pianista is very strange! But for example the movie Crossing Over, Into the Wild, Palermo Shooting or Body of Lies are just excellent watches! I can encourage everybody to watch them. And especially for blogger, the movie Julie & Julia is a nice story.

In the End

All in all I can tell that this project was very time consuming. I normally watch many movies but I tend to do it out of a ‘want’ not a must. But while the project it was more a must than a want. I really enjoyed many of the movies very much but still I am happy that this ‘must’ is now over!

What I want to mention is that I am really proud about my self that I in the end accomplished the project without real problem. I finished it and that absolutely feels great. And that is about the project was most: it was about doing something I think I can accomplish and do not let it fall down in the middle. I did it from start to finish and that is a encouraging feeling for coming project.

While this project was about watching 31 movies, the next month is about doing something else but about that I am going to write at the end of the month February to let you know how I did and about what I think about that kind of project. I just do not want to take to much pressure on me — even though some people say that, telling others encourages more than everything else, I want to do it as a silent project and tell about it after finishing it.

If your also have an obsession about movies, please feel free to tell me. And maybe write me some ideas for movies I should watch in the future, or tell me your opinion about that project, have you done something like that(?) or plan on doing something like that?

Many things Happend — 2009

It is needles to say that the yearchange is the time of the year were everybody starts to review the year. Everywhere are ‘Best of 2009′ lists for apps, social-networks, habbits, themes and addons — if you look at the internet, the real life review stars, drinks, bars and coffe shops. I personally think that the review is not as much as important as the look into the future. I think it is more important to think about what you want to change.

I for my self want to change some habits. Many of which I already wrote or am going to write about in my LSC (Life-Style-Change) post series. At the 22th of December I got my self a sheet of paper to write down some things I would like to focus on in 2010, to get rid of in 2010 and to achieve in 2010.

Hope everybody has a great evening / night with friends, family or who ever you want to be with and have fun! I wish you all the best for 2010!

Merry Christmas 2009

I wish you all a happy Christmas Day. I hope you all enjoy it and have some nice hours with friends and family.

And hopefully a happy slowing down for some days. Getting your head out of the work and relax a little. At least I try to do this. I try to think about stuff I should have thought about some month back — mostly regarding my time management and my happiness — which may be readable in the next Life-Style-Change Post!

Have a nice time everyone.

Anniversary: This Blog turns ONE

June the 17th 2009, this blog was started for the first time. By than I was not very much into blogging. I just noticed all the stuff for real and met some interesting people online — plus their blogs. I started to read many and started to follow them via RSS (which I had not known until august 2008).

December 23rd 2008, I relaunched the blog with a better design and clear thoughts for the future. Shortly after, I started to get on a schedule for my blog-posts — 2 per week, one on Tuesday and one on Friday. With just a few times at which I failed to post in time.

Tomorrow — December 23rd 2009 — ONE year later and — with this one — 110 posts, I celebrate an anniversary. And I think I will go on to celebrate next year again!

I thank everybody reading this blog and especially, since I never sad anything else, I am happy that I hold up the schedule and that I am still writing. I hope the stuff I write is of some value and that you enjoy reading it and I hope I got better with my writing over the past year.

Have a nice Christmas!

Stand Up — Take Action — Against Poverty

This weekend the event “Stand Up — Take Action — Against Poverty” took part all over the world. All over the world people organized single events to Stand Up for the realization of the UN-Millenniumgoals! The final number of participants will be published the 22. of October at standagainstpoverty.org.

Foe me this was exiting. I had to talk in front of about 120 people, for the first time such a great number. But in the end it was a success. 120 young people stood up and took action to tell the governments that they need to take action. I hope something will change. I believe we are able to get close to succeeding the UN-Millenniumgoal.

And for me it showed me something else. Maybe I should try talking more. Maybe that is something I could do more often.

Changing Decisions

I am a person who is likely to get fuzzy about geek things. Mostly I get really exited about getting a new gadget like a new MacBook or a Lens for my Camera or anything like. This state of excitement has it ups and downs. Ups are that I tend to get what I want if I want it enough, that I stay informed and get the stuff at a really cheap price — due to long research. Downs are that I tend to spend way to much time on researching — which should be spend on school stuff.

Lately I have thought about upgrading my MacBook to a new MacBook Pro 13″/15″ if they update the line in October. I can not review how much time I spend on researching the pros and cons of the different models, how to get the cheapest price and on the rumors — if apple is going to updated the line.

Finally that researching ended by attending a new school mid September — which I was not able to see how hard it would be to hold up the good marks. Now I am in there for 2.5 weeks and have noticed that I am not going to have much time to do some work besides school. That — being a bad thing — should be taken as granted, which means that I am not going to need a new MacBook Pro anytime soon — besides till now everything works fine at my 2.16GHz CPU / 4GB RAM / 64MB Shared-Grafic RAM white 13″ MacBook. Now I think about buying a new MacBook Pro at the end of the year.

The main aspect is about the fact that I will not have any time to spend on my MacBook doing stuff like massive Picture editing or anything alike.

My Conclusion: I will wait, use my running machine and study!

The Normal Stress goes on

Most often, I do not write posts like this but sometimes they are the best to let people know what goes on in the life of the person behind the text. Here in Germany — Bavaria — the summer vacation is over at 15th of September — which is today. That means that I have to go back to school. This year the school I am going to attend is the BOS which here in Germany is called the ‘BerufsOberSchule’ — a dictionary translation to english would be ‘upper vocational school’. The goal is to graduate with a ‘vocational baccalaureate diploma’ or ‘technical diploma’ which would allow me to attend college afterwards.

My main thoughts about that school are that it will be hard sometimes and most likely I need to let my passions and business go a little slow for the next month. I know for sure that I do not stop everything completely but some.

All in all, I will stay here, I will go on with the two posts per week and I will go on with training my passions. For everybody who is going to school, attending college or starts anything else new this school year, have fun doing it and I wish you all the best!

Writing a Diary

What about a diary? Many think diary’s are for young girls and maybe elder people? Wrong! I think thats completely wrong! I write a diary and that is what keeps me on memorizing everything. Now I want to tell you why and especially how I write my diary.

First: I do not write full text at least most of the time not. I write short notes like bullet point lists, but with a little more text. That keeps the diary writing short and organized.

Second: I do not write daily. Maybe it would be better if I did for the coming reasons but I don not cause of the time. I sometimes forget it and sometimes there are just not enough important things to write.

Third: My reasons for writing a diary. Mainly it is so that I reflect on what I did the last days and most important I try to focus on the things which made me happy. The things I can smile about if I think about it. Things which are worth remembering! Bad thoughts are everywhere out there they are in the news, in the streets and in magazines. The great things are most of the time little but much more important to us! Thats why I most of the time take notes of the great things and just sometimes about the bad — it is necessary to also keep the bad notes but do not focus on them!

Fourth: One last point: With this I can remember or look up when something crucial happened — like the death of Michael Jackson — so that I can tell my children when that was (if I ever will need to tell them that).

Thats pretty much it. Focus on the good, reflect and write it down.

Break-time

Now I posted 78 posts since December 23rd with never more than a 4 days between each post. Now I will take a break! I am on vacation in greece for two weeks and there I will not be posting anything (maybe some short tweets).

I will not be scheduling any posts for the time but maybe I will be writing some longer once to be published after my vacation.

I hope everyone has a great summer (at least at the north half of this little earth). Enjoy the weather and have a good one everybody!

The Finish is the Start

Last Friday — the 3rd of July — I wrote my last exam and with that finished the school I used to go to for the past two years. I don not know my marks yet and have no school leaving certificate in hands yet but still I am ready to go on.

The past days since the exam were pretty low riding. I started to get some work done which was stuck due to learning for the final exam — mostly picture editing plus some web-design. Till now I have to recall that days without going to school and just doing own stuff — plus some work that needs to get done, like cooking — is much less productive and I have to get used to this workflow cause I will have to get many things done in the upcoming 8 to 10 weeks. I just can not slow down or get less done. But that should not be the topic of this post.

But what else? Well I thought about the past years of school which were pretty much in the field of my interests — if you cross out photography and web-design. It was geeky and somehow techie too. In the end it will come down to a technical assistant of informatics. But is that really what I want in the end to be?

Well, for sure it is not the end of my education! I am moving on to attempt the in germany so called ‘Berufsoberschule’ which is one year of school to achieve the grade to attempt college afterwards. But what than? I still don not know what I really want and especially what I can achieve.

The problem is that I know what I love doing. I know the tools I love using. I know the things I’m passionate about. But for the life of me, I cannot find a hole that fits me.

~ Michael Mistretta

That post, by Michael Mistretta called Digging Holes, describes the problem really well. The problem of knowing what the passions are and not knowing how to life them.

For me the next life changing decisions are going to be weather or not to attempt college, go on freelance or building an own business in spare time or just go out and search a job out there. While the last one is the least I would choose. At the moment attempting college plus going on freelance / building an own business is the most appealing thought.

That are just some quick brainstorming for the feature, I don not know the feature and do not know weather or not they will change rapidly in some weeks but for now, finishing one school and going on to the next, I think it is worth looking into what I want to do in life. For now the most important I need to do now is that I get the next year of school done in a great way so that I get an degree to got to college and than can go study. Till than I have time to decide what I want to achieve!
