But will it be open or closed? I shudder to think of OS X (or it’s future derivative) as closed, when it’s the third party ecosystem that brings me the most enjoyment on this platform. And this ecosystem is a result of the openness of the OS.

~ Chris Bowler

The main problem I have with the iPat is that Apple is closing its OS’s. I hope that they never think about closing Mac OS X as much as the iPHone OS!

Overall, I’m left with the impression that this is not the end destination for Apple, but just another step on the way. Like the iPhone, the iPad is just the next step in Apple’s plan to be the digital hub in the home and the office.

A single idea can build cities.
An idea can transform the world,
and re-write all the rules.

I think some rules everybody should have! Not always written but think bout it! I like to write mine down. The once below are from Craig Mod and I can not say I do anything different (but I also use a tripod for self-portrait photographs cause it is hard to handle that without and I have one flash which I like to use)

  1. RAW only. JPEG quality is irrelevant because it seems insane to shoot anything but RAW. I’m shooting for documentary and archival purposes, as I think we all should.
  2. Mainly aperture priority.
  3. Mostly Auto Focus because things move quickly in real life.
  4. Everything handheld. Night shots with a tripod.
  5. No flash. Almost always available light.
  6. Edit. Edit. Edit. And post-process. I spend tons of time in Lightroom editing and filtering images — trying to find thematic threads — and preforming ‘standard’ darkroom post-processing.

Being a person who read just a few books a year and who has read non — maybe one — per year over the past 2 years (2009 not included) I am very interested in things about reading now. I started to read more and in 2009 I finished 10 books — blogs, magazines and newspaper not included!

I just found an interesting read about Ways of Reading.

I was deeply affected by the film (Food, Inc.) and have since been putting a lot of thought into, at the very least, becoming more educated about the food I am eating.

~ Patrick Rhone

Probably the most important thing for a human being is to eat something. And it is just as important what you are eating. Take a look and know what you eat! The post by Patrick Rhone is a great read and shows some nice opportunities and ways how you can control what you eat.

In addition to the three posts about 2009, the Big Picture blog posted a collection of 50 photographs showing the Decade in news Photographs. Take a look, remember and wonder what you forgot happened!

The Decade in news Photographs

Being heard can’t be our motivation for speaking. Being responded to can’t be our motivation for sharing. Being discovered can’t be our motivation for creating.

~ Joshua Blankenship: On The Entitlement Baggage of Social Media

I found this great quote in a quick post by Jorge Quinteros and instantly thought that fits the way I want to write this blog. I feel just like it is what I searched to describe why I write this blog (which I already wrote about). Instantly needed to add the quote to my about page!

The people over at The Big Picture blog created three posts, featuring photographs of the year 2009. I think it is a great lookthrough, interesting and remembering!

  1. 2009 in Photos Part 1 of 3
  2. 2009 in Photos Part 2 of 3
  3. 2009 in Photos Part 3 of 3

Editor of CSS-Trics.com (Chris Coyier) wrote a review of Safari and Firefox, comparing them to each other. I once had the same decision to take and I stuck with Safari for about ten month now.

I’ve traditionally been a Firefox guy. I like Firefox. I like the peeps at Mozilla, and they do great things. I also like Apple, and when I can, I try to use Apple products. So for an entire week, I decided I was going to suck it up and just try and make the switch to using Safari as my main web browser.

Take a look at the comparison and decide for your self!

* UPDATE *

Chris Bowler wrote a short post comparing Chrome for Mac and Safari, take a look and decided between even more browsers!

Many things Happend — 2009

It is needles to say that the yearchange is the time of the year were everybody starts to review the year. Everywhere are ‘Best of 2009′ lists for apps, social-networks, habbits, themes and addons — if you look at the internet, the real life review stars, drinks, bars and coffe shops. I personally think that the review is not as much as important as the look into the future. I think it is more important to think about what you want to change.

I for my self want to change some habits. Many of which I already wrote or am going to write about in my LSC (Life-Style-Change) post series. At the 22th of December I got my self a sheet of paper to write down some things I would like to focus on in 2010, to get rid of in 2010 and to achieve in 2010.

Hope everybody has a great evening / night with friends, family or who ever you want to be with and have fun! I wish you all the best for 2010!
